Sunrise Cinema, Saturday, Nov. 30th, 9:30 AM: MIRACLE IN MILAN: Join us on November 30th for a heartfelt film about kindness and the human spirit from one of Italy’s greatest directors, Vittorio De Sica. Miracle in Milan is a whimsical Italian neorealist fable that follows Toto, an orphan with a pure heart, who grows up to lead a community of impoverished citizens living in a shantytown on the outskirts of Milan. When they discover oil on their land, they attract the attention of a wealthy businessman who tries to take it from them. With the help of a magical dove, Toto works to protect and bring hope to the community. In Italian w/English subtitles.
Sunrise Cinema, Saturday, Dec. 14th, 9:30 AM: THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER: This charming Ernst Lubitsch-directed rom-com is the perfect way to celebrate the Holiday season. Set in a small Budapest gift shop, THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER follows the lives of two employees, Alfred Kralik (James Stewart) and Klara Novak (Margaret Sullivan). The two constantly quarrel with each other, without realizing they are anonymous pen pals who have fallen in love through their letters. Their workplace relationship grows more tenuous as Christmas approaches, setting the stage for revelations in both their professional and personal lives.
Sunrise Cinema, Saturday, Dec. 28th 9:30 AM: STALAGE 17: A dark comedy from Billy Wilder, STALAG 17 takes place in a German POW camp during World War II, where a group of American airmen are held captive. When two prisoners are killed during an escape attempt, suspicions rise that there is an informant among them. The cynical and self-serving Sergeant J.J. Sefton (William Holden) becomes the prime suspect, as he is afforded privileges from the Germans that other prisoners do not. As tensions mount, the men try to uncover the true traitor while plotting their next escape, navigating distrust and survival in the harsh conditions of the camp.
