Sunrise Cinema, Wednesday, Oct. 30th, 9:30 AM: GODZILLA - Godzilla first roared onto screens 70 years ago, and we celebrate the king of all monsters’ birthday with our screening of the original Japanese-language version. After the freighter Eiko-maru is mysteriously destroyed, a series of tragic events ensues, including the sinking of multiple ships sent to investigate and the devastation of Odo Island. This leads to the discovery of Godzilla, a giant sea monster awakened by underwater hydrogen bomb testing. Paleontologist Kyohei Yamane (Takashi Shimura) argues that Godzilla, impervious to conventional weapons, should be studied, while the government attempts to destroy the monster with military force.
