ONYX THEATRE CODE OF CONDUCT
At the Onyx, we are a hospitality-first movie theatre. We’re known for going out of our way to make guests feel welcomed and comfortable, and our staff takes pride in creating an atmosphere where everyone can fully enjoy the film.
Respect goes both ways. Just as we expect our guests to be courteous and considerate, we hold ourselves to the same high standard. Our team is here to create a great experience—whether that’s greeting you at the door, serving up the best organic popcorn in town, or making sure every film is presented flawlessly.
A great movie experience only works if everyone respects the space and their fellow guests. Here’s how we make that happen together:
1. Talking During the Movie – Not Here.
We love a good conversation—just not during the movie. Talking during a movie is disruptive and disrespectful. One warning will be given—after that, you will be asked to leave.
2. Phones Stay Dark & Silent – No Exceptions.
Even a dim screen is distracting in a dark theatre. No texting, no scrolling, no recording. If you need to use your phone, step into the lobby.
3. Service Animals Only
We love dogs, but only trained service animals are allowed inside the theatre in compliance with ADA regulations. While we appreciate how much people love their pets, emotional support animals and non-service dogs are not permitted.
4. Outside Drinks – Water Bottles Welcome.
We encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle—in fact, we’d prefer it. We do sell water in cans, but we’ve never loved the idea of selling something so basic. So if you have a bottle, bring it. That said, outside alcohol, coffee, or other beverages are not permitted.
5. Outside Food – Nope.
Movie theatres—us included—only survive if people buy snacks. That’s why every cinema has a no outside food policy. Plus, let’s be real—your neighbor probably doesn’t want to smell your anchovy pizza during the film. We serve organic popcorn with real butter, plus a fantastic selection of wine, beer, and cider, so we’ve got you covered.
6. Respect the Space & Each Other.
We welcome everyone—as long as they respect our space, our staff, and fellow guests. Disruptive, aggressive, or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated. We’re committed to treating every guest with courtesy and fairness, and we expect the same in return.
THE ALMOST ZERO POLICY
We believe in hospitality, which is why we’ll give one warning (in most cases) if there’s an issue. But if the warning is ignored and the behavior disrupts the experience for others, you will be asked to leave. No refunds. No exceptions.
These expectations have always been part of what makes The Onyx special, but we’re making them official to ensure every guest has the best experience possible. Our staff is committed to upholding these standards and stepping in when needed, so everyone can enjoy the film the way it was meant to be seen.
